Carrot Dog Treats with Almond Flour
Ingredients:
1 cup almond flour
1/2 cup finely grated carrots
1 egg
2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted)
1-2 tablespoons water (if needed)
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix Wet Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, applesauce, and melted coconut oil until well combined.
Add Almond Flour and Carrots
Gradually stir in the almond flour and grated carrots to form a dough. If the dough feels too dry, add water one tablespoon at a time until it holds together.
Shape Treats: Roll the dough into small balls or flatten them slightly into discs. You can also use cookie cutters for fun shapes.
Bake Treats: Place the treats on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the treats are firm and golden on the edges.
Cool Completely
Remove from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely before serving them to your dog.
Storage: Store the treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, or freeze for longer storage.
Note: Almond flour is a nutritious and gluten-free option for dog treats, but ensure your dog does not have sensitivities to nuts. Always introduce new treats gradually and consult your vet if your dog has dietary restrictions or allergies. Enjoy baking for your furry friend! 🐾
Allergic reactions: While rare, some dogs can have allergies to nuts, including almonds, leading to itching, swelling, or respiratory issues. 🐾
